CDSX Security Master File
The CDSX® Security Master File (SMF) provides current data on securities issued in the Canadian market, as well as U.S. and foreign securities that are CDSX-eligible. SMF is an online facility used to maintain security information required for security transactions.
The CDSX Security Master File is provided to subscribers in two formats:
7030 file
The 7030 file is an electronic text file of the CDSX Security Master File database reporting on:
- Outstanding issues (preliminary issues in an entered status that have not been confirmed by the issuing agent)
- Confirmed issues.
7031 file
The 7031 file is sent daily to subscribers providing updates and additions to the CDSX Security Master File. The file identifies:
- New preliminary issues (entered on the previous day but not yet confirmed)
- Deleted preliminary issues (deleted overnight)
- New confirmed issues
- Status changes of confirmed issues (changed to inactive or deleted)
- Changes to details of confirmed issues.
If any data elements in a record have been changed, the 7031 file reports the entire record for that security including all changes.
Strip bond reporting service
Since the early 1980s, the financial industry has stripped many securities, mainly bonds, into component parts – interest and principal. As participants must instruct CDS Clearing to strip securities they own, CDS Clearing is the prime source of information on stripped Canadian securities.
CDS Innovations offers customers subscriptions to reports on strip bonds, stripped underlying bonds, and packages:
- Stripped underlying bond report
- Book-entry strip bond packages
- Detailed book-entry strip bond report
- Summary of stripped underlying bond report
The strip bond reports offered by CDS Innovations provide more details than other publicly available reports with information on:
- International Security Identification Number (ISIN)
- detailed individual strip information
- reconstitution information
- package information.
In addition, CDS Innovations offers timely delivery via e-mail at the beginning of each month.
To understand more about interpreting strip bond statistics reports see Interpreting strip bond statistics reports on CDS Clearing and Depository Services’ website.
